I Really Like Macbeth Fo Sho
William Shakespeare’s notorious Macbeth is one of his most popular plays. There is no real surprise to this fact. It has action, gore, ghosts, and witches, equaling tons of fun for the audience. However, oddly enough, the infamous king did actually exist in the mid 1000BC in Scotland. According to what few historical documents could be found from that time tough, Macbeth was not the way that Shakespeare portrayed him. Macbeth was not a greedy, murderous man from what historians can tell. For seventeen years, Macbeth was one of the most beloved rulers of Scotland. He imposed law and order as well as encouraged Christianity. His wife, Gruoch (known in the play as Lady Macbeth), was very close to the catholic church and made charitable donations to it often in the form of money, gifts, or service to its less fortunate followers like arranging large meals for the poor. Macbeth was so well liked that he was able to go on a six month trip to Rome, and no one attempted to take the throne from him during that time despite the political instability in the region due to the ambitions of the English for the land just above their country.
